- Frequency:
- Administer every 12 hours (usually two times a day).
- Duration:
- 5–7 days for most conditions (this may vary based on the infection type and the veterinarian’s advice).
- 7–14 days for Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or chronic GI issues.
Special Instructions:
- Avoid in certain animals: Metronidazole should not be used in animals with liver disease or neurological disorders, as it can worsen these conditions.
- Administer with food: To reduce gastrointestinal irritation, it’s recommended to administer with food.
- Do not exceed prescribed duration: Prolonged use can lead to resistance or more serious side effects.
