Description

Fenbendazole Liquid Dewormer for Birds (10% – 100 mg/mL)

Fenbendazole Liquid Dewormer for Birds is a 10% oral suspension (100 mg per mL) formulated for controlled parasite management in avian species. Fenbendazole belongs to the benzimidazole class of anthelmintics and works by binding to parasite tubulin, disrupting energy metabolism, and leading tothe  elimination of susceptible worms.

Fenbendazole is the active ingredient used in widely recognized veterinary products such as Panacur and Safe-Guard.

What Parasites Does It Target in Birds?

Fenbendazole is commonly used (under veterinary supervision) against susceptible:

  • Roundworms (Ascarids)
  • Capillaria (hairworms)
  • Certain tapeworm species
  • Some gapeworm species (Syngamus trachea)

Parasite susceptibility varies by bird species and geographic region. Fecal testing is recommended before treatment.

Common Symptoms of Worm Infestation in Birds

Birds with internal parasites may show:

  • Weight loss despite normal appetite
  • Fluffed feathers or poor feather condition
  • Lethargy
  • Diarrhea or abnormal droppings
  • Poor growth in young birds
  • Respiratory distress (gapeworm cases)

Prompt and accurate dosing supports recovery and flock health.

Verified Dosage Guidelines (Based on Veterinary mg/kg Standards)

Active Strength:
10% solution = 100 mg per mL

Avian dosing commonly referenced in veterinary literature:

20–50 mg per kg body weight once daily

Practical mL Conversion

1 kg = 2.2 lb

20 mg/kg dose:

= 9.1 mg per lb
9.1 ÷ 100 = 0.09 mL per lb

50 mg/kg dose:

= 22.7 mg per lb
22.7 ÷ 100 = 0.23 mL per lb

General Guidance Range:

0.09–0.23 mL per lb once daily for 3–5 days
(depending on parasite type and veterinary direction)

Important Administration Notes

  • Individual oral dosing by syringe is the most accurate method.
  • Water-medication methods can result in inconsistent intake and underdosing.
  • Always calculate dosage based on actual bird weight.
  • Do not exceed recommended mg/kg dosing without veterinary direction.

Treatment Duration

  • Standard: 3–5 consecutive days
  • Severe infestations may require repeat treatment after veterinary reassessment.

Suitable Bird Types

Used under veterinary supervision in:

  • Pigeons
  • Parrots
  • Canaries
